Osteopathy is a therapeutic discipline which, in the context of a holistic approach, seeks to restore the homeostasis or mechanical balance of the lost musculoskeletal, nervous, visceral and circulatory systems. It does this through the application of various manual tecnhiques: joint manipulations, muscular energy techniques, joint pumping, stretching, functional techniques… among many others, aimed at the tissues identified as pathological (in dysfunction) in the osteopathic functional diagnosis. This consists of a global, complete and individualized evaluation of the patient that takes into account not only the body system, but also the biopsychosocial environment.
Depending on the tissue on which the technique is focused, three main groups have been classified.
